Beyond Borders: A Dutch Agent’s Journey to Dubai Real Estate

Posted by: Yourish Biharie

Real estate became part of my life at a young age. I started as a student real estate agent in the Netherlands, and once I entered the industry, I immediately enjoyed the pace, the people, and the business side of it. I was doing well, so continuing in real estate felt natural.

Dubai was always familiar to me. My family and I came here every year for holidays, and living here had always been something we talked about. When the opportunity finally came to move, I decided to take the leap.

Even with experience in the Dutch market, starting in Dubai real estate was a challenge. The markets are completely different. In the Netherlands, clients usually come to you to list their property. In Dubai, you have to build everything yourself—your network, your listings, and your client base. The competition is strong, and consistency is what separates you from others.

The client mindset is also very different. Back home, people move quickly. A property can have multiple viewings in one day, and decisions are made fast. In Dubai, especially when working with investors, the process takes longer. You need to understand the client’s motivation, goals, and options before closing a deal.

One thing that helped me grow quickly was staying connected to my network from the Netherlands. Following up consistently with past clients created repeat business and helped me build momentum early on. That consistency, combined with hard work, played a big role in becoming a Senior agent within my first year.

At Baron Luxe, having support whenever I needed it made a huge difference. Whether it was advice from management or guidance from colleagues, there was always someone willing to help.

Outside of work, Dubai has changed my lifestyle too. There’s more freedom, more opportunities, and a faster pace of life. It pushes you to think bigger.

If I had one piece of advice for agents considering Dubai, it would be simple: stay consistent and work harder than others.

Looking back, my journey has honestly been better than expected.
